Most falls are caused by the same few things ... your strength and balance, things around your home that might cause you to fall, medicines you take, and how well you can see.
Once you know which of these might be a problem for you, you can take steps to help prevent falls.
There are four main ways you can prevent falls.
Think of them as the four Fall Stoppers.
Fall Stopper number 1: Improve your strength and balance so you're steady on your feet.
Fall Stopper number 2: Make your home safe so there's nothing to trip you.
Fall Stopper number 3: Learn about your medicines so you know which ones can make you dizzy or drowsy.
Fall Stopper number 4: If you notice changes to your vision, have your eyesight checked by an eye doctor so you can find any vision problems early.
