Homes can be full of hazards-things you may not be aware of-that can cause falls ... like throw rugs, clutter on the floor, or pets.
Let's take a quick look at some of the most common hazards.
We'll start with the bathroom, because it can have some slippery surfaces.
Is your shower floor or bathtub slippery?
Well, you can fix that by getting a nonskid mat or adhesive strips for your tub or shower.
They're easy to install, they don't cost much, and you can get them at most hardware or home improvement stores.
These stores also sell grab bars for inside the tub or shower.
You can also get special chairs and a handheld shower head so you can shower sitting down.
Lamp, TV, or computer cords on the floor can cause you to trip.
It's best to coil them up out of the way or move them over by the wall.
And don't just put a rug over the cords.
A bump in a rug can make you stumble.
