[Host] Having advanced cancer can mean facing a lot of unknowns.
Right now ... you may have more questions than answers.
It's not easy ... but many people find hope and courage during this difficult time.
[Amanda] "Finding out my cancer had come back ...
it didn't seem real ... and it felt like no one could really understand."
"I felt so alone. I'd wake up at night ... my mind spinning.
You're facing your worst fears ... not knowing what comes next ... It's scary."
"I told my support group what I was going through ...
and I could tell some of them had been there ... they just knew.
When you talk about those fears ... they kind of fade away."
"Now I'm focusing on living how I want to live."
"When I have the energy, I spend time with family ...
or do some light exercise.
My volunteer work means a lot to me too ... It's a way to give back ...
to remind myself that there are others in need who I can help."
"I know I can't control everything, but I can ask for help when I need it.
Sometimes it's help with a project ... or better pain control.
Sometimes it's just a hug."
"I just try to keep things simple ... and to be honest about my feelings.
I've done plenty of questioning ... wondering why this happened to me ...
but I've also found hope and strength in my faith."
"Looking back at my life, I'm thankful for what I've accomplished.
And I'm thankful for what I still have to give."
[Host] Now may be a good time to think about what gives you hope ...
and what's most important to you.
And if you're struggling, talk to someone you trust.
Sometimes just letting others know how you feel can be a comfort.
