Many medicines and drugs can affect the rate and rhythm of the heart. A few examples are:
- Asthma medicines.
- Decongestants and cold medicines.
- Illegal drugs such as cocaine or amphetamines.
- Some heart and blood pressure medicines.

- Thyroid medicine.
