Crotamiton Topical Lotion (CROTAMITON - TOPICAL)

Instructions

DO NOT take this medicine by mouth.

Do not use on genitals.

Shake the bottle well before using the medicine.

Take a bath or shower before using the medicine. Remove scaly or crusted skin by rubbing gently, then dry with a towel.

To treat scabies, rub a thin layer of the medicine into the skin from the chin down over the toes. Include skin folds or creases, between the fingers and toes, and the bottoms of the feet.

Trim fingernails short and apply the medicine under the nails with a toothbrush or nail brush. Wrap the brush in paper and throw it away after using it to apply the medicine.

Apply the medicine again in 24 hours, repeating the entire process.

Wash all clothing, bedding, and towels that were used within 3 days before treatment. Wash in hot water and dry in a hot dryer, or dry-clean, to kill any remaining mites. Items that cannot be washed or dry-cleaned should be removed from contact with the body for at least 72 hours.

Take a shower or bath 48 hours after the last treatment to remove any remaining medicine from the skin.

To treat skin conditions other than scabies, apply a thin layer to affected areas as directed by your doctor.

Keep the medicine at room temperature. Avoid heat and direct light.

This medicine should only be used on the skin.

Do not use medicine on the face.

You must follow your healthcare provider's instructions carefully to kill all the bugs and avoid becoming infected again.

Family members and anyone who has been in close contact should be checked to see if they also need to be treated.

Wash your hands before and after handling this medicine.

Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth after handling the medicine.

If medicine gets in your eyes, rinse well with cool water.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist about all your medicines. Include prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal medicines.

Keep using this medicine for the full number of days that it is prescribed. Do not stop the medicine even if you start to feel better.

Throw away any unused medicine at the end of the treatment. Do not save for later use.

Do not take the medicine more than once during 24 hours.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist if you ever had an allergic reaction to a medicine.

Do not use the medication any more than instructed.

Tell the doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant, planning to be pregnant, or breastfeeding.

Please tell all your doctors and dentists that you are on this medicine before they provide care.

If you forget to use a dose on time, use it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, do not use the missed dose. Return to your normal dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses of this medicine at one time.

Do not share this medicine with anyone who has not been prescribed this medicine.

Tell your doctor if symptoms do not get better or if they get worse.

Seek medical attention if you see any signs of a serious infection. These signs include pain, increasing redness or pus where this medicine is being used.

A few people may have an allergic reaction to this medicine. Symptoms can include difficulty breathing, skin rash, itching, swelling, or severe dizziness. If you notice any of these symptoms, seek medical help quickly.
